The Topography series began in 2017 as a response to Plein Air and traditional Landscape art forms. The work in this series uses untraditional and upcycled materials with painted geometric motifs. I always admired and respected beautifully composed landscape paintings. In New Mexico, there is an undeniable connection with the land, especially the dynamic conversation between mountains and rivers and the natural world in between.

I do not consider myself a Landscape or Plein air painter - but more an experimental contemporary artist that fuses response and reactions into a conceptual work. I have been using non traditional materials since I began making art as a devise to connect “man made” to a personal, conceptual response.

These topographical landscapes are composed of a central mountain range, made from up-cycled materials, as seen from a bird’s eye view. I then convey movement, color and pattern with an energetic geometric compositions, which have become a signature stylistic approach in my work.
